Lunch and ramblings

Do you like feeding people? I do! My parents were great at entertaining. My mom always made sure there was enough food and Dad would cook some of his special things. Many of great memories come back to me while cooking with my dad. One year I wanted to make all the pies from scratch for Christmas! We stayed up late into the night baking together! What a wonderful time. We would have cup after cup of hot tea while things were baking and just talk. I sure do miss him. Today I am fortunate enough to be making lunch for my hubby and the folks he works with. My girls are all at camp this week and Wade couldn't take leave because things are so busy at work so I am a bit lost. I have gone on walks with my now very happy dogs, I have cleaned the school room *sigh*, I have cleaned my house, all the things it seems I never get done I got done this week. I like that don't get me wrong but it definitely has me thinking about the years passing and my girls leaving home. I am so excited for them to start their lives as adults. But back to the reason I am posting, lunch! Marines are usually very easy to please. If you make something homemade and send it on a plate with your hubby, it is like a magic trick *POOF* it disappears! I am making one of my favorite meals today for the guys, chili. There is such a satisfaction for me to watch someone eat a meal that I have made, I don't know why but there is. Wade is going to come pick me up and then after lunch I will come home and SEW! I am making some good treats to go with lunch also...(look away Pam)...one is called Too Much Chocolate Cake. I have heard it is great but since I don't like chocolate I cannot personally testify to this and Amish Friendship Bread. Most folks have been given or offered some starter in their lives and we were blessed last week. The kids hadn't had it in so long they forgot what it tasted like! I was thinking about posting some recipes later on. Hopefully all will go well, last time I fed the Marines we ended up with a full container of BBQ sauce all over the car :-)! Never a dull moment.....

You're so much better at entertaining than me! Maybe it will come with practice. I get too stressed out and worry over whether or not they like it, or whether there are enough choices. But you're right, they'll eat anything! I'm going to be in your spot next week, actually. I'm sure I'll be posting about how that goes!
Thank you for the warning to look away! HA HA What? Now I can't eat it OR read about it?? You gotta give me something!! ;)

I saw that Pam! Thank you! Now the pressure is on :-)! Apparently the choc cake was a hit, I don't like choc so I don't know for sure.

Kimberly ((hugs)) it is good to "see" you! I spent some time on your blog the other day, I love the collapsible photo album you made. I enjoyed catching up with you guys. Of course then I went to your hubby's blog and enjoyed that one too! Britt is headed to PCC in the Fall! Keep visiting, it will encourage me to post :-)!

Hahaha...sorry, I was laughing about the BBQ sauce...totally something that would happen to me. I WINCE when I see someone eat the food I made as I have zero confidence in my cooking skills :)
