Well that is what it should be called. I have been meaning to update my blog for a LOOOONG time but something else always seems to come up. My last post seems to have been in September so I have big news. The end of September I had lap-band surgery! I have spent most of the last 4 months concentrating on recuperating and learning how to eat. It sounds simple but let me tell you it is not, esp. the learning how to eat! I have lost a fair amount of weight in the past 4.5 months, 42 pounds to be exact. I have gone down numerous sizes and feel better than I have in a long time. That is the main reason I have been absent around here. I am trying to put myself, if not first, at least at towards the top of the list.
What else has gone on, well Britt has finished her first semester at college and did really well! She is back at school after being home for a 5 week break over Christmas. It is weird to have her gone, then home, then gone. I am happy she is starting her independent life but she is sorely missed around here. She is now an English major and seems to be doing well at it. It is still hard for me to believe that we homeschooled her and she is off to college.
Michelle and Hannah are still in school and doing pretty good. Michelle wants to be a nurse so we are pushing science and math. Hannah is not sure but the girl has some wonderful creative skills. She loves to write and draw so I am trying to incorporate that into school as much as possible. Both plan to go to PCC and follow in their big sisters footsteps.
We are staying put in Wichita for at least another 18 months. I am ok with it. There is a specific reason we are staying but I won't post it here. I will at a later time though.
Since having the surgery and finding my energy levels rise I have been working on getting my very large to do list done and I am happy to report that I am crossing stuff off! WOOHOO! I should explain that there are things on there from 2.5 years ago! Now do you see why I am so excited?
Things are just going well for us as a family, that's not say we are without problems but we are truly blessed.
My newest gadget is one that Wade bought me for Christmas, it's a BodyBugg! Anyone who watches The Biggest Loser has seen them wearing armbands, those armbands are Buggs! They measure the amount of calories you burn in a day and it also has a feature on the website that allows you to put in how many calories you have consumed so you can keep an accurate log of your calorie deficits every day. I have really done that yet but I love my Bugg! It has helped me even more with my weight loss. There are those that think any weight loss surgery is the answer to it all, let me assure you it is not. Most times I am not physically hungry but mentally hungry, WOW what a difference and now I can recognize it. It still takes a LOT of work on my part to make my band successful but slow and steady the weight is dropping. I should be at my goal weight by October of THIS year which is mind boggling to me.
Well I hope all is well and I will try to be less sporadic with my updates on us.
Love
Laura
