Books, Books, Books

What are you reading? I barely have time to read anymore it seems but I am trying to get better. For school we purchased a program called EyeQ and that has helped the girls read faster and retain more information. I tried it myself first and it helped me read quite a bit faster. I read pretty fast as it is but it gave me a 25% increase in speed. In high school there is so much more reading for them to do and I am all about "working smarter, not harder". If they can read the same amount in a shorter period of time, well that just seems more efficient. We use Beautiful Feet for history and that is a LOT of reading, plus in FBI in 3 years we read through the entire Bible and the Wilmingtons Guide to the Bible which is a smidge over 1,000 pages!

Anyway at our missions conference last week at church there was the man from Bearing Precious Seed and they had a BUNCH of books for sale. Well as most homeschool moms will tell you, they are addicted to books. I KNOW I am!! I was reading Pam's blog and she was talking about a book by Gail Riplinger and New age Bible Versions. I know Pam is on target with things so I immediatley went to check out the website she recommended. I made a mental list of what I wanted and left it at that. That night at church I saw about 3 of the books on my mental list!! What good timing huh? God's timing is always perfect! I purchased In Awe of Thy Word and a few other smaller books. I am excited to get reading...

What a blessing that you had the opportunity to choose from so many good books right in front of you! It's almost impossible to find anything in a "Christian" bookstore, and searching online is tedious work.

I'm glad you got some new books... I also ordered "In Awe of Thy Word"... I hope it's as good as it looks!

You know, after I read "New Age Bible Versions" I thought back on everything and noticed a couple of places that were not correct. We don't have access to all of the information that she does, so it's impossible to check everything. But just remember as you're reading that she has no claims on perfection; there will be mistakes. Overall, the facts that are in there are valuable to know. I'd love to hear your opinion when you're done!
