King James

Years ago when I was first saved I attended a Bible study by Kay Arthur, Precept Upon Precept. She used the New American Standard Bible so that is what I used. After a few years and a couple of duty stations later, the Lord touched my heart about the King James Bible! We were in South Carolina at that time. Honestly, I didn't have any concrete reasons for switching but I knew the Lord was tugging at my heart about it. I switched my Bible and it has been interesting ever since. I never really knew why I chose the King James but I know that I had great peace about it. Our church in SC was KJ only so that was nice and my sister in the Lord, Crystal was praying that I would switch over also. Taking my Faith Bible Institute classes I learned about the different manuscripts and the history of where the KJ came from. It still seems a little fuzzy to me. I think the reason is, no matter what history says, I KNOW that God has given me peace about the KJ and that makes everything else extra. I know I need to defend my position so I do try to learn what I can. I honestly believe that this is God's preserved word for English speaking people. I look at Matthew 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost, it is not in the NIV. That is pretty important! There are many places where the "blood" of Jesus has been omitted in other versions of the Bible. There is never any room for the blood to be removed as it is in other versions. Satan would have us to believe we can improve on what God has preserved. There is nothing God has done that any man can improve on. God's Word is just that God's Word, man held the pen but God told them what to write. I have purchased many different Bibles over the years. A few months back my oldest was looking at a Bible I purchased for her when she was quite young. It was a KJ Bible. She was looking in the front of it and it said that the NIV was quoted in this Bible! I felt sort of betrayed. You buy a Bible that says King James and other versions are printed in it! ARGH! I had her get rid of it. We have had such a hard time even finding Bibles in Christian book stores. It is almost impossible. The girls are at the point where I want them to have good, nice Bibles for study.

We had a missions conference at church this past week and there was a man that came from Michigan named Dennis Deneau (Den-O). He opened my eyes to some problems that are in some of our KJ Bibles! A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump as the Bible says. We were all there in the pew and everyone had their Bible except me (I shared with hubby!), this man brought out some problems in current KJ Bibles. They are "billed" as punctuation changes or spelling changes but that is not necessarily the case. There are many instances where the word "Spirit" has been made "spirit". That doesn't seem like much but what about the difference between "God" and "god". The Holy Spirit is part of the godhead and therefore it is proper to capitalize. Check in your Bible Gen 1:2, 41:38, Matt 4:1. Remember a little leaven...
How about the changes to the word "Saviour". Some Bibles today are spelling it "savior", here are the differences in definition
Savior - one who saves, preserves, or delivers from destruction or danger.
Saviour - Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, who is called the Saviour by way of distinction!! (italics mine)
There is quite the difference there! A lifeguard can be a savior to one drowning but there is only one Saviour! (these definitions came from Webster's Encyclopedic Dictionary 1933)

As I said we all had our Bibles and we were checking these certain places. We purchased Hannah's Bible about 1.5 years ago from the Christian book store. There were quite a few places that were different in hers. Everyone elses seemed ok. When we got home we checked all of our Bibles and there was a LOT different! The website is www.localchurchbiblepublishers.com and www.bpslansing.org . This is the Bearing Precious Seed organization. This may be old hat to a lot of you but I was shocked. On the website is a video of how they make their Bibles which is really neat. The Bibles that they sell are wonderfully made, handcrafted and IMO correct. I am going to be replacing Hannah's "good" Bible I just bought for her and getting a couple for me. I bought one for Wade for Father's Day (he already knows). If you want some more info on this let me know and I can get it out.
Take care...
Laura

I found a similar list online a couple of years ago and was shocked to find some of the errors in my daughter's Bible.
You're right, Laura... even the seemingly "little" changes make a HUGE difference.
